ROOF FOR VETS HONORS JAMES PORTLOCK
Kicking off another year of “Roof for Vets” events, Lon Smith Roofing today installed a new roof at no charge to a local military veteran.
James Portlock lives in White Settlement and serves as a school bus driver. Prior to that, he served in the US Navy for 26 years. His service took him to Vietnam, Lebanon and even the Bay of Pigs.
But these days, he’s fighting a different kind of battle—his roof. His roof is leaking and he and his wife have resorted to using buckets to catch the water that is leaking through his roof. Now, he has a new roof thanks to the “Roof for Vets” program.
“Today, we are honored to present a new roof installation to Mr. James Portlock,” said Lon Smith Vice President, Scott Hamilton. “Mr. and Mrs. Portlock, it’s time to put your buckets away. Today, you will have a new roof. It’s the least we can do to thank you for all you have done for our country.”
The Roof for Vets program selects a worthy veteran each quarter of the year and installs a new roof at no charge. Nominations are currently open for the second quarter.
