Welcome to the Lon Smith Cares Blog where we will periodically offers our thoughts on what is going on in the community and how we are doing our part to help out.
One of the biggest issues facing communities across Texas is the plight of our veterans. Around 1.5 million veterans call the Lone Star State home. They range from veterans who served in World War II to veterans just returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Yet many of these veterans are still fighting battles here at home. Issues of PTSD, depression and underemployment plague too many men and women who served in our military. They need our help.
And that’s what the Lon Smith Roof for Vets program is all about. A veteran is carefully chosen through a comprehensive process and awarded a free roof installation from Lon Smith. We strive to choose veterans who face financial challenges and might not be able to afford a new roof.
In the coming weeks, we will talk on this blog about some of the amazing heroes we have been honored to serve by providing a new roof.
